Sounds like you installed FCR 2 with a game in progress. All skills and skill progressions, mutagens, and trophies are borked if you do so, because FCR 2 redefines all of these and sets new conditions for their use. For example, the only usable mutagen slots are three in the Alchemy tree. Best to either: Start over with FCR 2 Or. 2 Greater Red Mutagens All fatal blows dealt by swords will dismember the target or trigger a finisher. All successful melee attacks increase Attack Power by 5%, to a maximum of 250%. In addition to the ability slots, you will be able to apply up to 4 mutagen slots to further enhance your abilities. Mutagens are gained from killing monsters, and their color not only corresponds.

Be sure to check here for more guides to help you achieve success throughout your journey. The Guide to the Alchemy Skill Tree will be beneficial in combination to this one when dealing with Mutagens.

Mutagen Slots

The ability slots in the Character Screen are divided into groups of three. Each of these has a mutagen slot to provide special bonuses to the abilities in that group. Since there are only three types of mutagen and four mutagen slots, double up where needed for the bonuses. If you use mutagens that coordinate with the abilities, you’ll get even higher bonuses; e.g. Green Mutagen combined with Alchemy abilities.

You start the game with no Mutagen Slots unlocked, but by the time you reach Level 28, all four slots will be unlocked.

Decoctions

Witcher

Witcher 2 Mutagen Slots

Decoctions are for the experienced Witcher, thanks to their high toxicity and the risk that comes with them. Yet so worth it!

These are alchemy potions made with specific monster mutagens that Geralt gets during a Witcher contract kill. These provide great bonuses, but come with a very high toxicity, so it's best to weigh your options before using.

  • Troll Decoction: Constant Vitality regeneration in and out of combat. For Witchers expecting multiple waves of enemies.
  • Ekimmara Decoction: A Witcher restores Vitality with every successful strike against an enemy.
  • Succubus Decoction: The longer the battle, the harder the Witcher strikes!
  • Alghoul Decoction: Adrenaline is generated more quickly by a Witcher in combat, but the effect is broken upon the first successful strike from an enemy.
  • Werewolf Decoction: Running, sprinting, and jumping outside of combat doesn't use Stamina.

More will follow in my Potions Guide coming soon which will include how to make bombs and more.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to check through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Master Guide List for more helpful guides, tips, and tricks to assist you throughout your journey.
